Indian women cricket team’s opener Smriti Mandhana, who was recently named in both the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s ODI and T20 teams of the year, is currently playing for India B in Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, which began from January 04.
Mandhana is the captain of India B, and under her leadership, the team has been qualified for the finals of the T20 Challenger tournament. The southpaw is known for scoring quick runs and playing long innings, however on Tuesday; Mandhana exhibited her fielding skills as she took a screamer to dismiss top-order batter of India A, Devika Vaidya.
During the 6th over of India A’s innings, all-rounder Anuja Patil bowled a good-length delivery and Devika struck the ball into the covers to grab a boundary, but skipper Mandhana had some other plans.
Smriti saw the shot and dived on her right to take an absolute blinder.
In the match, India B Women posted 139-4 in their allotted 20 overs. Smriti was the highest scorer (34). In response, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India A could only score 104-7 and lost the game by 35 runs.
India 'B' beat India 'A' by 35 runs, seal their second win in the tournament. 👏👏
