New Zealand middle-order batsman Ross Taylor smashed his 21st century in the first One-Day International (ODI) against India at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Wednesday (Feb 05). Taylor’s magnificent knock (105 not out) helped his side to chase down their highest target (348) in the 50-over format.

After reaching his hundred, Taylor, as always, poked his tongue out, and it couldn’t stop India spinner Harbhajan Singh to ask the reason behind the unusual celebration.

Veteran Indian bowler congratulated the Kiwi batsman on social media and asked why he poke his tongue out every time he slams a ton. Harbhajan also tweeted a picture of Taylor poking his tongue out.

“What a knock @RossLTaylor well done.. tell me why do u put the tongue out every time score 100??? good game of cricket #indvsnz,” tweeted Harbhajan.

For those who aren’t aware, Taylor had revealed the reason behind his unique celebration after he slammed a Test ton against Australia in 2015.

Speaking to Wide World of Sports, Taylor said, “Right back when I was at age group, I got dropped a couple of times when I got hundreds. Then I poked my tongue out – (after) I got dropped – against Australia, my second ODI hundred.”

The Black Caps batter also disclosed that his daughter gets pretty happy whenever he does the celebration.

“Ever since then, my daughter has been pretty happy when I poke my tongue out, and that’s pretty much for her as well,” he added.

Not only this, but Taylor had also once posted a photograph of his son Jonty while poking his tongue out.

After defeating the visitors in the opening game of the three-match series, New Zealand would be looking forward to win the ongoing second ODI as well. The second contest is taking place at Eden Park in Auckland.
