In cricket, South Africa is known for starting the trend of putting breathtaking efforts in the outfield and raised the standards of fielding. From the great Jonty Rhodes to current team member David Miller, the proteas players are famous for exhibiting acrobatic and spine-chilling efforts on the cricket field.

The South African women are also equally good on the field, and middle-order batter Laura Wolvaardt displayed a mind-boggling effort to take a catch against Thailand in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup.

The 20-year-old showed a character of an athlete to grab a one-handed screamer to dismiss Thailand skipper Sornnarin Tippoch on 1.

It all happened in the seventh over of Thailand’s innings, when Nonkululeko Mlaba bowled a low full-toss to which Tippoch chipped it towards the offside. Wolvaardt, who was positioned at the covers, attempted a full-length dive to complete the catch.

In the match, Thai women were bundled out for 82 in reply to South Africa’s 195-3 and lost the game by the biggest margin of 113 runs in Women’s T20 WC.
