Renowned voice of England cricket, David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd recently made the pick between Ben Stokes and Virat Kohli, in regards to the player he would like to pay and watch.
To which, Bumble chose the Indian captain over the fellow Englishman. Stokes had a memorable summer of 2019, finishing with a World cup title and a herculean Ashes win at Headingley.
In the World Cup final as well as with his fourth innings knock, Stokes took his team to victory single-handedly with the blade.
However, it was Kohli’s mesmerizing knocks which have beckoned Lloyd with respect to paying money to watch players.
Also, Lloyd rated Kohli above the rest to come out of India, ahead of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Rahul Dravid.
“Ben Stokes is box office. But I’d go for Virat Kohli. I reckon he is the best player to come out of India. He is fearless and, crucially, I think he always puts his team first. He has to win — for the team.” Lloyd told Sportsmail.
Further, Bumble went on to state that he would want to spend money to watch the England cricket team play. “I’d definitely pay to watch England play as a team,” added Bumble.
England team went through wholesale changes in terms of culture, personnel as well as attitude, post humiliating exit from the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia.
Since then, the Three Lions have scored the most number of 300+ scores in ODI cricket, and have been endorsing an entertaining brand of cricket. The new culture culminated into the England team winning the 2019 ODI World Cup at home.
Also, Lloyd touched upon the batting masterclass of Brian Lara, as he stated, “Aesthetically I would never tire of watching Lara. He was a flipping genius.”
Lara holds the record for the highest individual score by a batsman in Test cricket. The Trinidadian genius amassed 400 against England at Antigua in 2004.
