Mumbai Indians’ (MI) nightmare in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 continued as they suffered their eighth consecutive defeat to remain winless this season. The Rohit Sharma-led MI was comprehensively thrashed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
Courtesy of KL Rahul‘s brilliant century, LSG posted 168/6 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Considering the high-scoring venue and experience of MI playing at Wankhede, many fans were of the opinion that the five-time champions would manage to chase it down to claim their maiden win this year. However, the MI batters continued to struggle with the willow and only managed to reach 138/8, losing the contest by 36 runs.
Apart from MI’s another disappointing show, one moment involving Kieron Pollard and LSG all-rounder Krunal Pandya captured maximum eyeballs. Krunal, the ex-MI player, delivered a match-winning performance with the ball, taking a three-wicket haul, including Pollard, for just 19 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
The celebration of Krunal after dismissing Pollard became the major talking point on various social media platforms. The 31-year-old celebrated the wicket by kissing the Caribbean giant on his head. However, Pollard did not react to it and simply walked off.
After the match, the Ahmedabad-born cricketer shared his reaction to his eye-catching celebration, stating the scores with Pollard are now even (1-1). He even tweeted the same, showing his love and respect for the Trinidadian. Notably, earlier in the game, Pollard had also dismissed Krunal after the left-hander managed to score just a solitary run.
“Scores are even now, my brother (hug emoji) Love you, Polly (three hearts) @KieronPollard55,” tweeted Krunal.

“I was so thankful that I got his (Pollard) wicket otherwise, he would have eaten my brain throughout my life because he got me out, and now that it’s 1-1, at least he will speak less,” said Krunal at the post-match presentation.
