Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), on Saturday, announced the 18-member squad for the upcoming home Test series against Australia. The two-match Test series will start in Galle on June 29. Similarly, the second and final Test will also be played at the same venue between 8-12 July.

Notably, the two-match red-ball series will be really crucial for both sides, as it is part of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23. The visitors sit on top of the WTC standings while the hosts occupy the fourth spot.

Spinner Jeffrey Vandersay has been picked in the red-ball outfit following his impressive performances during the recently-concluded ODI series against the Aussies, which the Islanders won 3-2. Notably, Vandersay picked up five wickets in the 50-over battle and posed a lot of trouble for the Australian batters courtesy of his splendid variations.

The squad, which will be led by skipper Dimuth Karunaratne has some other notable players who did well in the ODI leg, including Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Chamika Karunaratne, Dhananjaya de Silva and Niroshan Dickwella.
