In a lighthearted and candid interaction with the media during the announcement of Team India squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, captain Rohit Sharma showcased his wit and composure while addressing a question about the comparison between the victorious 2011 World Cup squad and the current team’s prospects.
When questioned about the parallels being drawn between the celebrated 2011 World Cup-winning team and the present line-up, Rohit responded with a quip that resonated with his unique style. He humorously remarked, “Aap k pass jo hai, usi sey kaam chalana padega” (You have to make the most of what you have).
“2011 team had players who could bat & bowl, this time around, we have to work with players we have for the World Cup, we cannot overnight create players who can bowl.”
Rohit did not stop here and gave another hilarious reply, saying “hopefully Sharma and Kohli can roll their arms over in the World Cup (laughs)”.
Rohit’s witty response underscored his focus on the present and the strengths of the current team, while also playfully brushed aside comparisons with the iconic 2011 squad.
