The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), on Friday, unveiled its 15-member squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023, and the Nepal cricket team will be led by Rohit Paudel. The squad includes some prominent names in Nepal’s cricket scene, such as Sandeep Lamichhane, Aasif Sheikh and Gulshan Jha, among others.
The 19th Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, after being postponed due to COVID-19.
Nepal’s participation in the Asia Cup earlier this year marked a significant milestone for the cricketing nation. In the tournament, Nepal were placed in Group A with cricket giants India and Pakistan. Although the team faced tough opposition and suffered big defeats in both matches, their presence in the Asia Cup provided an excellent platform for cricket fans to witness the remarkable potential that Nepal possesses in the game.
Nepal’s 15-man squad for the 2023 Asian Games
The 15-man squad selected to represent Nepal in the 2023 Asian Games comprises a blend of experience and emerging talents. Captain Rohit, a promising youngster, will lead the charge. The squad also features Karan KC, Pratish GC, Aarif Sheikh as the wicketkeeper-batter, Gulshan Jha,Kushal Malla, Sompal Kami, Sundeep Jora, Binod Bhandari, Kushal Bhurtel, Dipendra Singh Airee, Lalit Rajbanshi, Bikek Kumar Yadav, Abinash Bohara and the spin sensation Sandeep.
