Mayank has ended the debates and conspiracy theories surrounding the photograph, particularly concerning the identity of the hand resting on Pant’s shoulder.
Following their victorious match against Bangladesh in the 2019 ODI World Cup, the cricketers were captured enjoying the English summer in the sun. Hardik Pandya shared this picture on social media, sparking confusion among social media users attempting to discern whose hand it was on Pant’s shoulder. This enduring mystery surrounding the photograph has remained a prominent topic of discussion among netizens over the years.

After a span of four years, Mayank finally unveiled the identity of the person whose hand was resting on Pant’s shoulder in the picture.

On Thursday, September 28, Mayank clarified that he was the one with his hand on Pant’s shoulder in the photograph. The right-handed batter emphasized that the various conspiracy theories making rounds on social media regarding this matter are entirely untrue.
“After years of extensive research, debates, and countless conspiracy theories, let the nation finally know : it is MY hand on @RishabhPant17 shoulder ‼️‼️ Ps : any and all other claims are misleading and not true” the 32-year-old wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Mayank made his international debut in a Boxing Day Test match against Australia as part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the 2018-2019 season. He last don the Indian jersey in a Test match against Sri Lanka held in Bengaluru in the year 2022. The Karnataka stalwart has 1488 runs registered to his name in 21 Test matches, including four hundreds and six half-centuries.
