Here are the top 5 reasons why India loves MS Dhoni

in Featured/India/MS Dhoni/News/ODI/Players/T20/Teams/Test Match

Indian cricketer MS Dhoni holds a unique record of leading the team which has won all the ICC trophies.

He led Team India to victory in World T20 2007 when most of the senior players had taken aback after the poor show in ICC ODI World Cup.

He fulfilled the dream of Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar to lift the ODI World Cup in 2011.

With a young brigade under his leadership, he also won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 hosted by England.

India attained the number 1 spot in ICC Test rankings for the first time under Dhoni’s captaincy in December 2009.

Here are the top 5 reasons why India love MS Dhoni :

5) Captain Cool

MS Dhoni rarely shows his emotions on the field. Looking solely at his expressions, an uninformed observer would be hard pressed to determine the situation of the match.

May it be finishing the match with a six in ICC ODI World Cup 2011 or running out Bangladeshi batsman Mustafizur Rahman in World T20 2016, Dhoni kept his calm and lead his team towards the victory which looked shaky at a moment both for the team players and the Indian fans.

READ : TV umpire to call front foot no-balls in England-Pakistan ODI Series

in England/Featured/News/ODI/Pakistan/Players/Teams

The upcoming ODI series between England and Pakistan will be used as a trial by the ICC to check if the front foot no-balls can be effectively determined by the TV umpire and conveyed to the on-field umpires.

The ICC said that to assist the TV umpire, footage from the 4 side-on cameras for run-outs will be made available on a split-screen feed, along with slow-motion replays and a rewind-forward option.

The on-field umpires will wear a “pager watch” to receive communication from the TV umpire. This watch will vibrate when a no-ball is called. If by any reason, the watch fails to deliver the intended message, the umpires will use regular verbal communication.

The only instance when on-field umpires can use their discretion to call a no-ball during the series is if the side-on cameras are unavailable.

ICC Senior Manager – Umpires and Referees, Adrian Griffith, said: “This trial is being carried out to ascertain if there is a way in which front foot No balls can be called more accurately and consistently, while also assessing the TV umpire’s workload and identifying the impact it will have on the flow of the game.

“While we need to find out if the technology set-up for this purpose is fit, at the same time we feel this is the right time to conduct the trial as the TV umpires will have more information than ever before to share with the on-field umpires, which, in turn, will help them in correct decision-making.”

Griffith said that there will be training sessions conducted for the umpires before the series. “To ensure that the match officials are thoroughly briefed and trained for this trial, the ICC will conduct training sessions with the umpires and match referee in Southampton on Monday and Tuesday. The results of this technology trial will be shared with the ICC Cricket Committee, which will advise the ICC on future action.”
