On Sunday, South Africa (SA) opened their World Test Championship (WTC) account after demolishing the English side by 107 runs. It was indeed great news for African cricket as it has seen a lot in the past few months. It was the sixth consecutive win for the Proteas at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
Quinton de Kock grabbed the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his impressive knock (95) in the first innings.
Apart from De Kock, the speedster duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje also performed brilliantly along with veteran pacer Vernon Philander. Rabada took seven while Nortje claimed six wickets in the match. Philander, on the other hand, sent four English batters back to the pavilion.
After picking their maiden points in the WTC, former South Africa Test bowler Dale Steyn congratulated his team and credited coach Mark Boucher along with skipper Faf du Plessis.
“Well done to the Proteas! Mark and Faf seem to have put together a team that looks hungry, has fight, but above all look menacing with real intent towards their skill. All characteristics that I grew up with when I played under Smith and co. Gr8 to see the boys back! #proteas,” tweeted Steyn.

However, then something happened, which made Steyn a bit upset. A fan replied to Steyn’s tweet and mocked the SA’s win saying it came on home soil.
The fan tweeted, “Playing at home! Chill out for God sakes..”

Steyn replied back to the user and said by that logic India in India also doesn’t count either. The right-arm bowler even called the fan ‘Idiot.’
I guess India in India also doesn’t count then either…
And just by the way, God has nothing to do with this. Idiot— Dale Steyn (@DaleSteyn62) December 30, 2019
