India squad for the 2021 U19 Asia Cup announced; Yash Dhull named as captain

The All-India Junior Selection Committee has picked a strong 20-member India squad for the ninth edition of the U19 Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be played in the UAE from December 23, 2021 to January 1, 2022.

Delhi batsman Yash Dhull has been named captain of the Men in Blue for the multi-team tournament.

Dhull was a leading run-scorer in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy earlier this year. He managed to score 302 runs for the DDCA at a phenomenal average of 75.50 in five matches.

The selectors have also announced a 25-member squad for a preparatory camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru from December 11-19, ahead of the upcoming event.

The selectors, however, mentioned that India’s squad for the forthcoming U19 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the West Indies from January 14 to February 4 next year, would be announced later.

Two-time defending champions India have won U-19 Asia Cup six times in last eight editions while sharing the coveted trophy with their arch-rivals Pakistan in 2012.

India U19 squad:

Harnoor Singh Pannu, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ansh Gosai, SK Rasheed, Yash Dhull (c), Anneshwar Gautam, Siddharth Yadav, Kaushal Tambe, Nishant Sindhu, Dinnesh Bana (wk), Aaradhya Yadav (wk), Rajangad Bawa, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Garv Sangwan, Ravi Kumar, Rishith Reddy, Manav Parakh, Amrit Raj Upadhyay, Vicky Ostwal, Vasu Vats (subject to fitness clearance).

Standby players (for the preparatory camp at NCA): Ayush Singh Thakur, Uday Saharan, Shashwat Dangwal, Dhanush Gowda, Singh Rathore.
