Star India opener Shubman Gill impressed one and all, bringing up a patient century on Day 3 of the ongoing fourth and final Test against Australia. In the third Test at Indore, Gill was picked to open alongside skipper Rohit Sharma as the team management decided to drop KL Rahul owing to the latter’s poor form. Gill didn’t manage to make the most of his outing in the third Test but stepped up and delivered in Ahmedabad.

The top-quality batter, who is enjoying a purple patch with the bat across formats, brought up his second Test century with a boundary off Todd Murphy during the second session and celebrated with his trademark bow.

As Gill reached the triple-figure score, the entire Indian camp and the spectators stood up and applauded the young genius batter. Social media was also flooded with fans as well as cricketers appreciating Gill for his outstanding ton.

Here is how Twitter reacted:

India, however, faced a big blow right after Gill smashed his century as Cheteshwar Pujara, who was looking set at the other end, was dismissed LBW by Murphy. After the end of 71 overs, the hosts have managed to score 210/2, with Gill and Virat Kohli in the middle. The hosts still trail the Steve Smith-led side by 270 runs.

Notably, Gill (117 batting) and Pujara (42) formed a stunning 113-run partnership for the first wicket before the latter was trapped leg-before. Earlier, Gill put together a 74-run partnership with skipper Rohit before he was removed for 35 off the last ball of the 21st over.
