In a split second, Mahmud displayed incredible reflexes and quickly removed the bails. The decision was then referred to the third umpire, who declared the Kiwi batter out. However, after a brief discussion, Litton and Mahmud later decided to withdraw their appeal and recalled Sodhi in a heartwarming gesture.

“Really good day. Historically we haven’t done well here and hence it is nice to get the win. Nice of Litton for calling me back after the mankad. That was the whole reason we decided to bat first as the ball would spin more in the second innings, even Ravindra and McConchie got the ball to spin. Playing ODI cricket leading into the WC is awesome, but this is a difficult place to play and to walk away with a win is awesome,” said Sodhi.
