During the second ODI between South Africa and Sri Lanka in Centurion, stand-in wicketkeeper David Miller attempted a lightning-quick stumping which earned him comparison to MS Dhoni from his captain, Faf du Plessis.
The incident occurred in the 32nd over of the Sri Lankan innings. South Africa’s regular wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock walked off the field as his side needed just one wicket to win the match. As leg-spinner Imran Tahir tossed the ball, Oshada Fernando looked to smash it over midwicket for a boundary but failed to make any connection with the ball.
Miller, meanwhile, not only caught the ball which sharply spun away from the batsman but also removed the bails in a flash. Lauding his effort, Faf, who was fielding at slips, called Miller ‘MSD’ – in reference to India veteran MS Dhoni.

The Proteas have taken a 2-0 series lead in the five-match series after winning the second ODI by 113 runs. Having been put into bat, the hosts posted a formidable 251 on the board, with De Kock the star with 94.
In reply, Sri Lanka never looked like chasing the total as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Despite some stubbornness shown by the middle-order, the visitors were bowled out for a mere 138 in 32.2 overs.
