Former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin has picked one player from the past he would have loved seeing play the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, IPL is highly regarded as one of the best cricket tournaments in the world and players from all teams wish to play the world’s toughest T20 competition.

There is no doubt that if IPL was there in the past, many yesteryear stars would have rocked the players’ auction process. Taking the same thought into account, a user asked Azhar to name one cricketer from the past during the latter’s ‘Question and Answers’ session on Twitter.

“Ask me a question if you need cricketing advice. Happy to answer today,” tweeted Azharuddin.

Responding to the interesting question, Azharuddin picked legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev as his choice. Kapil was known for his brilliant all-round abilities and outstanding leadership qualities. With more than 9000 international runs across formats and 687 wickets, Kapil, was in fact, one of the best all-round cricketers that has ever played the game.

“One player from past whom you would have loved to watch in IPL?” a fan on Twitter had asked Azharuddin.

“Kapil Dev. All-round ability,” Azhar responded.

One could understand the length of IPL’s popularity with the simple fact that it has an exclusive window in ICC Future Tours Programme. In fact, no other domestic competition enjoys this much liberty.

The iconic Indian batter was also asked to name the most difficult bowler he has ever faced in his glorious career. Azhar went legendary Pakistan pacer, Wasim Akram, as his answer.

“Who is the most difficult bowler you ever faced? And one from Pakistan? “ asked a fan.

“Wasim Akram is the most difficult bowler I have ever faced,” replied Azharuddin.

Azharuddin had a tremendous international career for India. He played 99 Tests and 334 ODIs, scoring 6215 and 9378 runs, respectively. The former India skipper smashed 29 hundreds and 79 half-centuries across formats.
