South African all-rounder Chris Morris has brought the curtains down of his international career, with the 34-year-old announcing that he is retiring from all forms of cricket.
Morris, who last represented South Africa during the 2019 ODI World Cup, added that he had recently accepted a coaching position with the domestic side Titans.
“Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small…it’s been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a coaching role at @titanscricket #lifebeginsnow,” the caption on his Instagram post read.
Morris represented South Africa in four Tests, 42 ODIs and 23 T20Is, picking up 48 and 34 wickets, respectively. With the bat in hand, the Pretoria-born scored 467 runs in ODIs and 133 in T20Is.
He played cricket all around the world, apart from his time spent with Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, North West, Lions and the Titans at home. In England, he played for Surrey and Hampshire, in West Indies for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKP) and Sydney Thunder in Australia.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Morris played for Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals featuring in 81 games, scoring 618 runs at a strike rate of 155 and taking 95 wickets.
